PENNANT BOULDER, PORT TALBOT
BRANDON YARD, BRISTOL
CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

ABOVE: The beautiful boulder with historic tablets inset.
Preserving a tangible piece of Port Talbot’s industrial past, Mossfords Memorial Masons’ construction division created a striking pennant boulder featuring inset stone tablets salvaged from the former Port Talbot Railway and Docks Company (PTRDC) offices prior to its demolition.
The carefully designed monument pays homage to the town’s rich heritage, uniting history and craftsmanship in a lasting tribute. Through thoughtful restoration and expert stonemasonry, Mossfords have ensured that the legacy of the PTRDC continues to be celebrated within the community it helped to shape.

ABOVE: The project required the boulder to have a number of plaques inset – a rehearsed task for our skilled stonemasons.
The Port Talbot Railway and Docks Company was formed in 1894 to secure the means of bringing minerals, chiefly coal, to the harbour in South Wales. It opened its main line in 1897 and connected with the Great Western Railway and Garw Valley lines. A branch line to collieries near Tonmawr also opened in 1898 (Originally covered by the South Wales Mineral Railway).
